Once Dr. Loethly was an ordinary man, who made a living by study energy sources. After witnessing a magical encounter with Mighty Gal, his curiosity led him to see if magic could be used as energy. While researching a certain type of magic called mana he stumbled across a way to use this magic as a form of energy, thus putting an end to the energy crisis. While  testing this new energy source, a fight erupted between Mighty Gal and the Children of the Underworld.  Mighty Gal was trying to prevent them from stealing the machine.  During the fight , the machine was broken causing a large explosion. The magic released during the explosion was absorbed by Dr. Loethly who was transformed into magic. He is usually hiding in a pocket dimension. Where he rudes, and where he also can mathied his realm.   Spell is a lot tougher than he looks, every time he is defeated, he comes back, again and again, stronger than ever.
